Would you like to learn about edible mushrooms?

Come and join on our mushroom course in the wonderful northern Norway countryside for a day of collecting, identifying, and having fun. You will learn how to prepare and preserve mushrooms and, if time, how to cook edible mushrooms.
Tromsø Soppforening (Tromsø Mushroom Association) is responsible for the six-hour mushroom-picking course. The course focuses on identifying different types of mushrooms and the habitats they grow in, looking at their different shapes, features, and family groups. We will go for a walk in the nearby woods and fields collecting mushrooms and recording our finds. The course will also cover how to avoid potential hazards you may come across when collecting mushrooms. After the walk we will drive to the Marinbiologisk station (close to Bukta on Tromsøya) to go through all our findings. If there is enough time, there will be a cooking and tasting session of some of the edible mushrooms at the end of the day.

The course will be held by Kari Riddervold and Karin Abeler. Both are mushrooms experts and members of Tromsø Soppforening.
